For over three decades, Poland has been one of Europe’s most compelling economic success stories.

Since the historic transformation of 1989, Poland has moved from a centrally planned economy to one of the strongest and most resilient markets in the European Union. Over this period, Poland’s GDP has increased more than sevenfold and Poland has become the world's 20th largest economy by nominal GDP, a milestone reached around mid-2025, surpassing Switzerland and joining the trillion-dollar club with projections exceeding $1 trillion, signifying a major achievement in its economic development and potentially leading to G20 inclusion. Moreover, Poland ranks as the 6th largest economy in the EU and continues to outperform the European average in terms of growth dynamics, even during periods of global slowdown.

This long-term growth has been driven by unprecedented investment in infrastructure and connectivity. Since joining the European Union, Poland has invested tens of billions of euros in transport infrastructure. The country now operates over 4,000 kilometers of modern highways and express roads, with new sections added every year. Rail freight has been systematically modernized, with key TEN-T corridors linking Polish ports directly to Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine. Intermodal terminals and logistics parks have multiplied, making Poland one of the most important logistics hubs in Central and Eastern Europe.

This infrastructure backbone supports a large, fast-growing and increasingly affluent market. Poland is home to nearly 38 million consumers and serves as a natural gateway to a Central and Eastern European region of more than 100 million people. GDP growth has consistently ranked among the highest in the EU, supported by strong industrial output, manufacturing, consumer demand and exports. For American companies, this translates into real scale, rising purchasing power and long-term market potential — both within Poland and across the wider CEE region.

Trade between the United States and Poland has been growing steadily for years, reaching record levels in sectors such as automotive, machinery, chemicals, agri-food, consumer goods and advanced industrial products. However, despite this growth, a large share of US–Poland cargo is still routed through Western European ports. This indirect routing typically adds several days to transit times, increases handling costs and exposes supply chains to congestion and capacity limitations in traditional hubs.

Port of Gdańsk offers a direct and future-proof alternative.

As the largest port in Poland and the leading container hub on the Baltic Sea, Port of Gdańsk handles over 2 million TEU annually, with dynamic year-on-year doible-digit growth. Its deep-water terminals accommodate the world’s largest container vessels, enabling direct ocean services from Americas and Asia. Combined with excellent rail and road connections, the port efficiently serves not only Poland but also key markets in Central and Eastern Europe — including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine and beyond.

Port of Gdańsk is not a regional port — it is a strategic gateway.

At this year’s Business Mixer in the United States, we invite American cargo owners, shipping lines and logistics decision-makers to discover how Poland has emerged as Europe’s new economic tiger — and why Port of Gdańsk is its primary maritime access point. This is an opportunity to discuss direct services, optimized trade routes and long-term partnerships designed for growth, resilience and efficiency.

Poland is ready for more trade.

Port of Gdańsk is ready to be your direct gateway to Europe’s fastest-growing market.

We look forward to meeting you in the United States.
